SBFA Fencers Named as USFA Academic
All-Americans!
Congratulations to Andy Granatelli (Dos Pueblos High School)
and Travis Tibbitts (San Marcos High School) for being named to the 2010 US
Fencing All Academic Team. Both fencers achieved GPAs of 3.85 or
higher to be honored at the highest level as First Team members. The
teams were announced at a ceremony during the Junior Olympics, and honorees
were given a certificate and pin to recognize their extraordinary academic
and athletic achievements.
Competition Gear
The Competition Information
page has been revised to contain a printable checklist of the equipment
needed for a fencing tournament. It is easy to forget an important
piece of clothing or equipment that is required for competition, so
double-check your fencing bag before you leave. The extra time is
well-spent to avoid the disappointment of being turned away from a
tournament after a 2 hour drive.
Please note that Notre Dame School
does not allow parking behind the
school until around 5pm, especially when there are children on the
playground or field. To avoid the meter maids on the street, please be sure to park
legally, with awareness of the 3 minute loading zone in the front of the
school. There are 75 minute zones on Anacapa Street, and the church
parking lot is always available for extended stays (enter from Sola or State Street at the funeral
home).
